Dear Potential New Members,

Welcome to Carolina and congrats on becoming a Tar Heel!

While I know that some of you can’t wait to begin your time in Chapel Hill, I know that others may be nervous about the chapter ahead. College is a big transition, and it's normal to feel anxious about this life change. No matter how you feel, in just a few months when you’re celebrating gamedays in Kenan Stadium and cheering on the Heels, you’ll know that the hardest part is over. Chapel Hill will soon become your home away from home: the place you never want to leave.

I understand how you guys might be feeling. When I was going through the recruitment process, I was looking for a sisterhood that would make the transition to college easier. I wanted to find a place where I could be myself and find genuine friendships. I found that and more in Phi Mu.

Joining Phi Mu means gaining friends and sisters who are committed to you both as collegians and alumnae. A Phi Mu woman will be your shoulder to cry on when you're having a bad day, or someone to make you laugh for hours on end. She is someone who will be your biggest cheerleader because, at the end of the day, the bond we share is deeper than friendship. Phi Mu empowers and supports its members every step of the way during their time at Carolina and beyond.

My hope for all of you is that you find a chapter that feels like home and friends that will last a lifetime. Enjoy every second of the next four years because it will be over before you know it. If I could go back and do it all again, I would choose Phi Mu every time.

Look forward to meeting you in August,

Optional Self-Introduction Form

Since Fall 2021, Phi Mu Fraternity no longer requires alumni recommendations or preferential treatment of legacies in an effort to give each PNM the same opportunity during the recruitment process. In support of these changes, Phi Mu Gamma Lambda is providing the opportunity for PNMs to introduce themselves to our sisters.

This self-introduction form is completely optional, and we encourage you to only share information that you are comfortable with. If you have any questions, you are always welcome to reach out to the Phi Mu Membership Email, phimugl.membership@gmail.com
